How to cancel Amazon subscriptions
Amazon subscriptions is the list of Amazon memberships and channel add-ons, separate from ending Prime itself. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.
Steps
- Go to Your Memberships and Subscriptions and sign in to the Amazon account that pays
- Find the subscription and choose Manage Subscription
- Under Advanced Controls, choose Cancel Subscription
Open Amazon subscriptions’s account page
What happens when you cancel
The general list shows active, cancelled and expired subscriptions, with the renewal date. A cancelled Prime Video add-on keeps access until the end date on the confirmation, unless you accepted a self-service refund, in which case Amazon says it ends immediately. Other subscriptions tied to Prime or Prime Video do not renew once that membership ends.
Refunds
Amazon’s add-on page says a self-service refund, when it is offered, ends the channel at once. If it is not offered and you want to stop immediately, contact Amazon. The general memberships page does not promise a refund for the rest of a period.
Before you cancel
- Each Amazon country site has its own subscriptions. Use the account named on the receipt. Prime itself is ended from the Prime membership page, not from this list. A channel such as Starz that Amazon bills is cancelled here; a Starz plan billed by Starz, Apple or a TV provider is cancelled with that company.
- If you pay through Apple, Google Play, Amazon or a phone bundle, cancel there; the provider’s own page will not let you.
- Check the renewal date and any notice deadline first. Complete cancellation before that deadline and check the confirmed access end date.
After you cancel
- Keep the confirmation email. If a charge appears later, it is your proof.
- Access normally continues until the end of the paid period, then stops.
- Check the next card statement once, to be sure the charge is gone.
Questions about cancelling Amazon subscriptions
How do I cancel an Amazon channel subscription?
Open Manage Your Subscriptions, choose Subscriptions, find the add-on and choose Unsubscribe. You keep it until the end date unless you accept a self-service refund.
Does cancelling Prime cancel Starz or other channels?
Do not count on one button. Amazon says subscriptions tied to Prime do not renew once Prime ends, but a channel is still its own subscription. Cancel it from Memberships and Subscriptions if it is still listed.
Where is Memberships and Subscriptions?
In Your Account on the Amazon site that charges you. The page lists Prime, Prime Video and other subscriptions, with Manage Subscription and then Cancel Subscription.
How is this different from cancelling Prime?
Prime is ended from the Prime membership page. This list is for the other memberships and channel add-ons on the same account.
