How to cancel Tinder

Tinder is the dating app’s Plus, Gold and Platinum plans. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.

Deleting the app does not cancel. Plus, Gold and Platinum use the same path for whoever bills you.

Steps

  1. Check the order number on the receipt: MK is Apple, GPA is Google Play, TNDR is Tinder.com or a card paid in the Android app
  2. Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Tinder, Cancel Subscription
  3. Google Play: Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Tinder, Cancel subscription
  4. Tinder.com or a card in the Android app: tinder.com, your profile, Manage Payment Account, Cancel Subscription

The same cancel path covers Plus, Gold and Platinum. Tinder says uninstalling the app does not cancel. A subscription stays on the platform that sold it, so a move from iPhone to Android does not take the subscription with you. Cancel on the old one.

Cancelling through an app store or a bundle

The steps above are for a subscription taken out with Tinder directly. If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, Google, Amazon or another company, that company holds the subscription and the cancel button is there.

If you pay through Apple

An order starting with MK is billed by Apple. Cancel it in Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Tinder notes that Apple Pay or a web payment in some countries is cancelled like a Tinder.com purchase instead.

If you pay through Google Play

An order starting with GPA is billed by Google Play and is cancelled in the Play Store. A credit card or PayPal payment inside the Android app, order starting with TNDR, is cancelled under Manage Payment Account in the Tinder app.

What happens when you cancel

Tinder says subscriptions renew until they are cancelled. The help article does not promise that paid features end the moment you cancel; stop the renewal with the biller and keep the confirmation.

Refunds

Most in-app purchases are not refunded. Tinder says it can help with a TNDR or COSU charge from the last 14 days if you write from the same email and include the order number. Apple and Google Play refunds are requested from those stores. Cancelling and requesting a refund are separate.

Questions about cancelling Tinder

How do I cancel Tinder Gold, Plus or Platinum?

Cancel where you were billed. Apple and Google Play plans are cancelled in those stores. A Tinder.com plan is under Manage Payment Account.

Does deleting Tinder cancel the subscription?

No. Tinder says uninstalling the app does not cancel it.

I changed from an iPhone to Android. Where is the cancel button?

On the iPhone, or in that Apple Account’s subscriptions. Tinder says the subscription does not move with the phone.

Can I get a Tinder refund?

Apple and Google decide their own refunds. For a Tinder.com charge in the last 14 days, Tinder asks you to contact them from the same email, with the order number.
