How to see all subscriptions on your bank card (UK & US)
To see all the subscriptions on your card, check four places: your card statements for the last 12 months, your Apple and Google Play subscription lists, PayPal’s automatic payments, and your email receipts. No single screen shows everything, because a subscription can be billed by the provider, an app store, PayPal or a phone contract, so the trick is to check each one once and write the results down together.
Why one place is never enough
The company you subscribe to is not always the company that charges you. Netflix bought on the web is billed by Netflix. The same subscription bought inside the iPhone app is billed by Apple, and your statement says Apple. A music plan bundled with your mobile contract may never appear on your card at all. Finding everything means looking where each kind of billing shows up.
1. Read your card statements (UK and US)
Your statement is the most complete record of what leaves your card.
- Download the last 12 months of statements for every debit and credit card in the household. Yearly renewals only show up once a year.
- Mark every merchant that repeats, and every one-off charge from a company you know sells subscriptions.
- Note charges from Apple, Google, PayPal and Amazon separately: each can stand for several subscriptions, which you check in the steps below.
2. Use your banking app
Many UK and US banking apps can search your transactions by merchant, and some group regular payments or let you manage recurring card payments in the app. What is available varies a lot by bank and changes often, so look in your bank’s help pages for recurring payments, regular payments or subscriptions.
Even when the app has no subscriptions screen, your bank can still act:
- UK: you can ask your card issuer to cancel a recurring card payment (a continuous payment authority), and the issuer must stop it, even if you have not contacted the company first. See how to cancel all your subscriptions at once.
- UK Direct Debits: these are separate from card payments and are listed under Direct Debits in your bank account. You can cancel them with your bank. The Direct Debit cancellation page explains how.
- US: for automatic debits from a checking account, your bank can stop a preauthorized payment if you give it notice. Credit card charges you did not authorise can be disputed with the card issuer.
3. Check Apple subscriptions
Anything bought inside an iPhone, iPad or Mac app, plus Apple’s own services such as Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud+ and Apple One, is listed here.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings › tap your name › Subscriptions.
- Mac: open the App Store › click your name › Subscriptions.
- Windows PC: the Apple Music or Apple TV app › your name › View My Account › Subscriptions › Manage.
- Android or another device: go to account.apple.com and sign in.
Cannot find a subscription that Apple is charging you for? Search your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple” and check which Apple Account the receipt names. It may be another account you use, or a family member’s, and only they can cancel theirs.
4. Check Google Play subscriptions
- Android: open the Play Store › tap your profile picture › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions.
- Computer: go to your subscriptions in Google Play on the web.
Sign in with each Google account you use, because subscriptions belong to the account that bought them. Uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
5. Check PayPal
PayPal calls these automatic payments, subscriptions or billing agreements.
- Website: Settings › Payments › Manage automatic payments (UK accounts; the menu may also say Subscriptions and saved businesses, or Automatic Payments) › choose the merchant.
- App: Menu › Subscriptions or Linked Businesses › choose the merchant.
Stopping the automatic payment in PayPal stops PayPal paying the merchant. It does not necessarily end your contract with the company, so cancel with the provider too.
6. Check Amazon
Prime, Prime Video Channels, Kindle Unlimited, Audible and Subscribe & Save are managed in your Amazon account. Prime Video Channels such as Paramount+ are separate charges from Prime, so look under Memberships and Subscriptions as well as the Prime page. Each Amazon country site has its own Prime, so check the one that charges you. The Amazon Prime cancel guide covers the membership itself.
7. Search your email
Search every inbox you use for:
- receipt, invoice, subscription, renewal, membership
- trial, your free trial ends, we’ve updated our prices
- receipt from Apple, Google Play order, PayPal automatic payment
This catches subscriptions on cards you forgot to check and trials that have not charged yet.
8. Do not forget bundles
Phone, broadband and TV contracts often include a streaming or music subscription. Spotify, Apple TV and Peacock are all sometimes billed through a partner. A partner-billed plan is cancelled with that partner, so check your phone and broadband bills too.
Put everything in one list
Once you have found everything, you need it to stay found. Subcentre keeps every subscription your household pays for in one list, without a bank login:
- Scan a statement and Subcentre helps you list the subscriptions on it.
- Forward receipts with one rule in Gmail, Outlook or iCloud. They go to your household’s own address and file themselves, with an Undo if one is wrong.
- See who pays for what across the family, your monthly cost by category and price rises over time.
- Get reminded by email or notification days before a trial ends or a renewal charges.
Questions about finding your subscriptions
How do I check what subscriptions I have?
Check your card statements for the last 12 months, your Apple and Google Play subscription lists, PayPal’s automatic payments and your email receipts. Together they cover the ways a subscription can be billed.
How can I see all subscriptions on my card in one place?
Your card statement shows every charge, but app-store and PayPal charges often hide the real service. Check those lists too, then keep the results in one list, such as Subcentre, so you are reminded before each renewal.
Why does my statement just say Apple or Google?
You subscribed inside an app, so the app store bills you. Open Settings, your name, Subscriptions on an iPhone, or Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions in the Play Store, to see what each charge is for.
Will cancelling my card stop all my subscriptions?
Not reliably. Recurring payments may carry on with a replacement card, and cancelling payment does not end a contract. Cancel each subscription with whoever bills you, and in the UK you can also ask your card issuer to stop a recurring card payment.
How do I find subscriptions I have forgotten about?
Look back a full year, include every card and PayPal, and search your email for receipt and renewal. Yearly subscriptions and free trials started on an old card are the ones most often forgotten.
