How to cancel Apple TV
Apple TV is a streaming TV subscription, typically £9.99 / US$14.99 a month. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.
Apple renamed Apple TV+ to Apple TV in October 2025. The US price rose to $14.99 in August 2026. Apple One bundles it with other Apple services.
Steps
- On iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions
- Choose the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription
- On a Mac use App Store, your account name, Account Settings, Manage Subscriptions
Cancelling through an app store or a bundle
The steps above are for a subscription taken out with Apple TV directly. If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, Google, Amazon or another company, that company holds the subscription and the cancel button is there.
If you pay through Apple
On an iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Apple TV and tap Cancel Subscription. On a Mac open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings and Manage next to Subscriptions. On an Apple TV box go to Settings, Users and Accounts, your account, then Subscriptions. On a smart TV, games console or Android device, sign in at tv.apple.com, open Settings and manage the subscription there.
If you pay through Amazon
In the US, Apple TV is also sold as a Prime Video Channel. If Amazon bills you, cancel it in Memberships and Subscriptions in your Amazon account; your Apple Account will not show it.
Other ways you may be billed
Some mobile, broadband and TV deals include Apple TV for a period, and in the US it is sold in a bundle with Peacock by either company. A partner subscription is cancelled with the company that bills it; a free period attached to your Apple Account appears in its Subscriptions list.
What happens when you cancel
After cancelling you can watch until the end of the current billing period, after which the subscription ends and downloaded episodes stop playing. Films and episodes you bought outright in the Apple TV app are separate and stay yours. Your watch history and Up Next stay with your Apple Account.
Pause or downgrade instead
There is no pause and only one plan. If you pay for Apple One, you cannot drop Apple TV from the bundle; you would cancel Apple One and subscribe separately to the services you still want, which can cost more.
Refunds and the free trial
Apple does not refund the rest of a billing period when you cancel. If you were charged for a renewal you did not want, you can ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides case by case. A subscription bought through Amazon or another partner is refunded, if at all, by that company.
New subscribers usually get a free trial of about a week, and Apple has run longer offers with new devices. Apple says that if you cancel during a free trial you may lose access straight away, so cancel near the end of the trial rather than on day one.
Before you cancel
- The service is now called Apple TV, the same name as the app and the box, so look for Apple TV in your Subscriptions list rather than Apple TV+. With Family Sharing, the person who started the subscription is the one who cancels it. Cancelling Apple One ends every service in it, including iCloud+ storage, so check what else depends on it first.
- Check the renewal date and any notice deadline first. Complete cancellation before that deadline and check the confirmed access end date.
After you cancel
- Keep the confirmation email. If a charge appears later, it is your proof.
- Access normally continues until the end of the paid period, then stops.
- Check the next card statement once, to be sure the charge is gone.
In the UK
The UK price is £9.99 a month. Apple charges monthly with no notice period, so you can cancel from Subscriptions at any time before the next renewal.
Questions about cancelling Apple TV
How do I cancel the Apple TV free trial?
In Settings, your name, Subscriptions, tap Apple TV and cancel. Apple may end access straight away when you cancel a trial, so do it shortly before the trial ends.
How do I cancel Apple TV+ on an Android phone or smart TV?
Sign in at tv.apple.com in a browser or the Apple TV app, open Settings and manage the subscription there. It belongs to your Apple Account, not to the device.
Can I keep my Apple TV downloads after cancelling?
No. Downloaded episodes stop playing when the subscription ends. Films you bought are not affected.
I have Apple One; can I cancel just Apple TV?
Not within the bundle. Cancel Apple One and subscribe separately to the services you still want.
Is Apple TV+ the same as Apple TV?
Yes. Apple renamed the streaming service Apple TV in October 2025; the subscription and price carried on unchanged.
