How to cancel Starz

Starz is the US streaming service, often added as an Amazon channel. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.

Apple, Amazon, Google and TV providers are cancelled with them.

Steps

Sign in at starz.com
Open the user icon and choose Settings
Under Billing Plan and Information, choose Cancel Subscription
Follow the prompts and choose Submit

Open Starz’s account page

On a phone, Starz says: open the app, More, Settings, Account Management, then under My Subscription choose Cancel Subscription. That opens a browser to finish, and you may be asked why. You keep access until the end of the billing cycle and get a confirmation email. If Apple, Amazon, Google, Roku, a TV provider or another partner bills you, cancel there. Starz’s own site cannot end those.

Cancelling through an app store or a bundle

The steps above are for a subscription taken out with Starz directly. If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, Google, Amazon or another company, that company holds the subscription and the cancel button is there.

If you pay through Apple

If you subscribed through Apple, cancel in the App Store subscriptions list: your profile, Subscriptions, Starz, Cancel Subscription. Starz also describes an Apple TV path under Settings, Users and Accounts, Account, Subscriptions.

If you pay through Google Play

If Google bills you, Starz says to cancel in the Play Store: profile, then the subscriptions list, then Starz.

If you pay through Amazon

A Starz channel bought through Amazon is under Your Channels on the Amazon subscriptions page: find Starz and choose Cancel Subscription. A Starz app subscription on a Kindle or Fire TV is under Amazon’s app store subscriptions: Actions, then cancel.

What happens when you cancel

Starz says you keep watching until the end of the billing cycle after you cancel a plan bought on starz.com. The same is true of the Apple and Amazon routes Starz describes.

Refunds

Starz’s cancellation article does not offer a refund of the current cycle. You keep access until it ends. A plan billed by Apple, Amazon or a TV provider is refunded, if at all, by that company.

Before you cancel

Check who bills you before you start. A cable or satellite plan is cancelled with that provider, and each provider’s path is different. Cancelling the Starz app login does not stop a partner charge.
Check the renewal date and any notice deadline first. Complete cancellation before that deadline and check the confirmed access end date.

After you cancel

Keep the confirmation email. If a charge appears later, it is your proof.
Access normally continues until the end of the paid period, then stops.
Check the next card statement once, to be sure the charge is gone.

How do I cancel Starz?

If you subscribed on starz.com, sign in, open Settings, and under Billing Plan and Information choose Cancel Subscription, then Submit.

How do I cancel Starz on Amazon?

Open your Amazon channels, find Starz under Your Channels and choose Cancel Subscription. An app subscription on Fire TV is cancelled from Amazon’s app store subscriptions instead.

Do I keep Starz until the end of the month?

Yes. Starz says access continues until the end of the billing cycle, and you get a confirmation email.

Can I cancel Starz if my TV provider includes it?

Not on starz.com. Contact the cable or satellite company that bills you.
