How to cancel MUBI

MUBI is a curated film-streaming membership. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.

Apple, Google Play and Roku plans are cancelled in those stores.

Sign in on the MUBI website
Open Settings, then Subscription
Cancel from that page. The time you have already paid for is kept

MUBI’s help does not name a further button: it says you cancel in your subscription settings, and the terms call that control Subscription under Settings. If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play or Roku, cancel in that store. MUBI’s website cannot end those.

Cancelling through an app store or a bundle

The steps above are for a subscription taken out with MUBI directly. If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, Google, Amazon or another company, that company holds the subscription and the cancel button is there.

If you pay through Apple

A plan bought through the App Store is cancelled in Apple’s subscriptions, not on MUBI.

If you pay through Google Play

A plan bought through Google Play is cancelled in the Play Store subscriptions list.

What happens when you cancel

MUBI says the time you have already paid for is kept. Access continues through the end of the current billing period.

Refunds and the free trial

MUBI’s terms say payments are not refunded and there is no credit for a partly used period. A store purchase follows that store’s refund rules.

Where a trial applies, MUBI’s terms describe it as 7 days, or another length shown on the offer. It starts when you choose the trial and finish registration, and it converts to a paid plan unless you cancel before it ends. MUBI says it does not email you when the trial ends.

Before you cancel

Check the receipt before you hunt for a button on the website. Store plans are not listed as something MUBI can cancel for you.
Check the renewal date and any notice deadline first. Complete cancellation before that deadline and check the confirmed access end date.

After you cancel

Keep the confirmation email. If a charge appears later, it is your proof.
Access normally continues until the end of the paid period, then stops.
Check the next card statement once, to be sure the charge is gone.
