How to cancel NordVPN
NordVPN is a VPN subscription, billed by Nord or by an app store. Here is where the cancel button lives, what you keep and lose, and what to check before and after.
Steps
- Log in to your Nord Account
- Open Billing
- Next to Auto-renewal, choose Cancel
- Choose Cancel auto-renewal and wait for the confirmation email
Cancelling through an app store or a bundle
The steps above are for a subscription taken out with NordVPN directly. If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, Google, Amazon or another company, that company holds the subscription and the cancel button is there.
If you pay through Apple
An App Store subscription is cancelled in Apple’s subscriptions. Nord cannot refund it.
If you pay through Google Play
A Play Store subscription is cancelled in Google Play. Nord’s refund article explains the separate refund request.
If you pay through Amazon
An Amazon Appstore subscription is cancelled with Amazon.
What happens when you cancel
Turning auto-renewal off stops the next renewal. Nord’s article describes this as using the service until the current subscription ends, not as an immediate cut-off.
Refunds
Nord offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase of a new subscription. Renewals are not covered, unless the law says otherwise. The refund is requested through Nord’s support chat, then confirmed on a page that lists which payments have a Refund button. App Store and Amazon payments are refunded by those stores. A Google Play payment can be requested from Nord if it is inside the guarantee, or from Google within 48 hours.
Before you cancel
- Cancel auto-renewal and a refund are different actions. A renewed period will not show a Refund button under the 30-day guarantee. Check Billing to see that auto-renewal is off.
- Check the renewal date and any notice deadline first. Complete cancellation before that deadline and check the confirmed access end date.
After you cancel
- Keep the confirmation email. If a charge appears later, it is your proof.
- Access normally continues until the end of the paid period, then stops.
- Check the next card statement once, to be sure the charge is gone.
Questions about cancelling NordVPN
How do I cancel NordVPN?
Sign in to your Nord Account, open Billing, choose Cancel next to Auto-renewal, then Cancel auto-renewal. You get a confirmation email.
Does cancelling NordVPN stop it today?
Turning auto-renewal off stops the next charge. You keep the subscription until the end of the period you have paid for.
Can I get a NordVPN refund?
Within 30 days of the first purchase, via Nord’s support chat, if the payment shows a Refund button. Renewals are not included. App Store and Amazon refunds go to those stores.
I subscribed to NordVPN in the App Store. Where do I cancel?
In Apple’s subscriptions, not in the Nord Account. Nord’s help links a separate article for Play Store and Amazon plans too.
